Watch this space for an imminent release! The past few months, we've been partnering with the WHO Department for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs. This partnership aims to enhance access to crucial guidance on national strategic planning (NSP) and conducting programme reviews (CPRs) through engaging e-learning modules.

Who is the WHO Department for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs?

The WHO Department for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs is dedicated to leading the global health response to these significant public health challenges. Their mission is to reduce the incidence and impact of these diseases through comprehensive prevention, care, and treatment strategies. The department provides countries with technical support, policy guidance, and evidence-based recommendations to strengthen their health systems and improve health outcomes.

National Strategic Planning and Conducting Programme Reviews

The department publishes extensive guidance on national strategic planning (NSP) and conducting programme reviews (CPRs).

  • National Strategic Planning (NSP): This involves developing comprehensive, evidence-based plans to tackle HIV, viral hepatitis, and STIs at the national level. These plans are tailored to specific country contexts and aim to set realistic, measurable goals for prevention, care, and treatment.

  • Conducting Programme Reviews (CPR): Programme reviews are systematic assessments of ongoing health programs. They help identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, ensuring that resources are used effectively and that health interventions achieve their desired impact.

Both NSP and CPR are essential tools for countries to evaluate their current strategies, adapt to emerging challenges, and stay on track toward achieving global health targets.

Creating Engaging E-Learning Modules

Recognizing the need to make this guidance more accessible and engaging, we have been working closely with the WHO Department for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, and STIs to develop e-learning modules. These courses are designed to provide healthcare professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the key principles and practices involved in NSPs and CPRs.

What to Expect from the E-Learning Modules

Delivered in Articulate Rise, the e-learning modules are interactive and story-based, including videos and a range of interaction types, to make the learning experience engaging and practical. The courses cover the fundamental principles of NSPs and CPRs, providing step-by-step guidance on how to develop and implement effective strategies. The modules will be freely available online, allowing the broad range of learners to access the content at their own pace and convenience.

Release by the WHO Academy

These e-learning modules will be released soon by the WHO Academy. The WHO Academy is a state-of-the-art learning institution that aims to transform lifelong learning in health, reaching millions of learners globally. By offering these courses through the WHO Academy, we are ensuring that healthcare professionals worldwide can access high-quality, evidence-based education that empowers them to make a difference in their communities.

This project marks a significant step forward in making essential health guidance more accessible and engaging. Through these e-learning modules, we aim to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to develop and implement effective national strategies and conduct thorough programme reviews.

Stay tuned for the release of these courses on the WHO Academy platform. Together, we can drive progress towards reducing the global burden of HIV, viral hepatitis, and STIs.
